I wouldn't like to predict what C3 will think of this as yet but maybe you
can give me some guidance as to whether the following might hold some
promise.

Objective IST-2009.5.2: ICT for Patient Safety Total budget:
30M€ (IP, STREP, CSA)

* ICT for safer surgery (IP, STREP)

* ICT for integration of clinical research and clinical care (IP,
STREP)

* ICT-enabled early detection of public health events (STREP)

* Support Actions: user-friendly data input and output in clinical
domain, interoperability conformance testing approaches (CSA)

We're already into ICT for integration of clinical research and clinical
care as a perhaps unforeseen requirement of Avert-IT. There are two big
questions we're trying to figure a way around. Firstly nobody seems to know
if output from monitoring devices is actually accurate - from what we've
seen a lot of it may not be.

This may, or may not explain clinicians reluctance to use predictive
technologies in care decisions.

So we're already involved in this area and will get deeper during clinical
trials no doubt.

T-2009.6.3: ICT for energy efficiency Total budget 30M€ (STREP, CSA)

* ICT tools for the future electricity market (STREP)

* ICT support to energy-positive buildings and neighbourhoods (STREP)

* ICT services and tools enhanced with energy features (STREP)

* Coordination Actions (CSA, CA only)

ICT-2009.6.4 ICT for environmental services and climate change adaptation

Total budget 24M€
(STREP, CSA)

* ICT for a better adaptation to climate change (STREP)

* Flexible discovery and chaining of distributed environmental
services (STREP)

* Analysis of ICT for sustainable urban environment (CSA)

* Stimulation of an ICT-enabled environmental information service
economy in Europe (CSA)

I'm trying to persuade C3 there's an opportunity for it's technology in what
I'm describing as Sustainable Business Operations - basically "creating
value without costing the earth" or "war on waste".

So much of what C3 does is firmly in this monitoring and intervention space
that it will make sense to position the solution there.

Let me know if you think any of these might have some legs.
